In late October, United announced that a Boeing 737-824 would be painted in a special Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker-themed livery in anticipation of today's theatrical release of the new movie. (The movie's world premier was in Los Angeles on Monday; some theatres had late-evening showings yesterday.)
After being repainted at Amarillo the aircraft (N36272) was ferried to United's Houston hub on Nov 7 and has since flown 149 flights as of last night, counting a diversion and the continuation as two flights. Another seven flights are planned for today and tomorrow according to FlightAware.
Today's Featured Map shows the small portion of the galaxy where the plane flew through yesterday (in light sabre blue from the left side of the plane's tail) and the upcoming flights (in light sabre red from the right side).
